Meet Conner

Conner Reese Ramirez was born January 5, 2000. Conner has been a fighter since the day he was conceived during the pregency I had to several surgeries for issues with my kidney and as a result Conner was born 2 month premature. Conner was immediately taken to a different hospital when he was born and remained in the hospital for 3 weeks before he could come home once he was home he was on a breathing and heart monitor for months but through all of that Conner came through a fighter with no delays in any areas of growth he grow to be a typical toddler boy that was in to everything. At the age of 4 we decided to put him in pre-K which he would cry in the mornings when he had to go but was not willing to leave school when I was there to get him so I decided he was only crying in the mornings cause he didn’t want to get up after a couple days I took him to the doctor. The physician thought the same thing but did blood work just to make sure everything was ok sadly it wasn’t we got a call on July 6, 2004 telling us we needed to get to Children’s Hospital that was all they said. July 7, 2004 we received the news our son had ALL Leukemia we couldn’t believe it something had to be wrong he was so healthy and already bet the odds at birth so how could he have CANCER? Conner was only 4 years old and had the strength of a man he fought he’s cancer for 4 years and during that 4 years had several surgery’s numerous  hospital stays, spinal taps, blood transfions and chemo but never once did he complain. The day he got his port out was a wonderful day for him that meant he could play sports in which he did Conner loves soccer, football and baseball. Conner went on with live all through he’s school he has always been honor roll student and was on student counsel.

May of last year I noticed something was different with Conner put couldn’t pin point anything until one day I noticed he’s eye was a little slower then he’s right side. I made a eye appointment the following day May 28th 2010 for after school once the doctor looked in he’s eye she told me there was broken blood vessels and needed to get to Children’s immediately all I could think of was not this again but never once thought the cancer had returned. Sadly by the next afternoon we had been informed he’s cancer was back and Conner had lost all vision to the left side. It goes to show you how strong my son is he had the cancer in he’s central nerve system for awhile which all doctors say should have caused him extreme pain but not Conner he never mentioned a word. As of today we are still undergoing chemotherapy treatments and radiation. I still believe my son can regain some sight back he is a fighter and has broken all odds before. Conner is counting down the days to be through with treatments he so badly wants to be back into sports and school.
